About The Position

The Sportsbook Dual Rate Writer plays a key role in delivering a seamless, accurate, and engaging wagering experience for every guest at Live! Casino & Hotel. In this dynamic hybrid role, you support both frontline betting operations and supervisory responsibilities, ensuring that every transaction—from accepting wagers to resolving inquiries—is handled with precision and professionalism. Your strong knowledge of sports betting, attention to detail, and commitment to exceptional guest service help maintain the integrity of our Sportsbook operations and create an exciting, welcoming environment for sports fans and bettors alike. Through your ability to switch between Writer and Supervisor duties based on business needs, you help ensure smooth operations, regulatory compliance, and a consistently elevated guest experience.

Requirements

Prior sports and sports betting knowledge.
Effective and friendly communication.
General understanding of financial information, data, and basic arithmetic functions.
Thorough knowledge of the approved Responsible Gaming Program.
Ability to analyze and interpret departmental needs and results.
Ability to solve complex problems.
Ability to perform assigned duties under frequent time pressures in an interruptive environment.
Broad variety of tasks and deadlines requires an irregular work schedule.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Exceptional interpersonal skills in dealing with employees and customers.
High School Diploma or General Education Degree required.
Willingness and ability to be flexible with work schedule. May require extended hours and work week from time to time.
Must be able to obtain and maintain the necessary license as mandated by the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Frequent movement throughout the Sportsbook area, including navigating busy gaming floors and interacting with guests at multiple locations.
Ability to lift, carry, or move items up to 25–50 pounds, including currency drops, supplies, paperwork, kiosk materials, or bank bags.
Frequent bending, reaching, and stooping when handling tills, accessing kiosks, completing paperwork, or performing drawer sweeps.
Sufficient manual dexterity to process tickets, operate betting terminals, count currency, and complete detailed reconciliations.
Ability to maintain alertness and quick responsiveness to betting patterns, guest needs, and operational issues in a dynamic environment.
Visual and auditory acuity to review betting lines, read detailed transactional information, hear radios or communication devices, and respond to guest inquiries.
Comfort working in an environment with bright lights, loud noise, smoke exposure, and large crowds, typical of a 24/7 casino setting.
Flexibility to work extended or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and special event periods based on business needs.
Ability to climb stairs and use elevators when moving between operational areas or assisting during high‑volume periods.

Responsibilities

Accepts bets and writes tickets on all sporting events from customers in a professional and courteous manner.
Receives sport or parlay tickets from customers and pays customers who present winning tickets and vouchers.
Maintains and balances a till for use in issuing and redeeming tickets and vouchers.
Maintain a neat and well-stocked window for the next shift.
Responsible for processing transactions accurately and maintaining accurate reconciliations.
Must be aware of all Title 31 procedures and logging.
Must know all terms and conditions pertaining to sports wagering.
Must be fully aware of all lines and odds in the Sports Book.
Remain alert to any peculiar betting patterns and report such events to the Sports Book Supervisor.
Ensures compliance with all regulatory controls of the state gaming agency.
Promotes superior guest service.
Supervises Sportsbook cashiers; ensures all transactions are performed according to Company policies as well as state and federal regulations.
Monitors all monies being wagered.
Approves or denies wagers from guests in conjunction with the Risk and Trading team.
Maintains Sportsbook vault.
Conducts sweeps/bankroll increases on cashier drawers as necessary.
Monitors performance, conducts basic maintenance, and customer experience on kiosks.
Handles escalated guest disputes in the Sportsbook.
Reports issues and discrepancies to management immediately.
Advises management of any operational concerns.
Assists with training, developing, measuring performance, disciplining, and/or scheduling department staff, as assigned.
Enforces Company’s Standard Operating Procedures.
Maintains high visibility throughout the Sportsbook.
Provides outstanding customer service in a timely manner to both guests and fellow employees.
Other duties as assigned.
