About The Position

This position keeps score for scheduled athletic games and programs and performs sideline crew duties. It requires independent judgment and thorough knowledge of current VHSL rules and regulations for each sport. The scorekeeper also performs other related duties and special projects as assigned. Compensation is $15.30 per game.

Requirements

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Moderate knowledge of the sport(s) being officiated.
• Thorough knowledge of current VHSL rules and regulations for each sport.
• Good communication skills to inform coaches, athletes, and spectators about time and score events.
• Good vision to view officials and others from the sidelines.
• Ability to cooperate, reach mutual decisions, and work as part of a group.
• Stamina and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Keep score for sporting events, games, or competitions.
• Track event times, including game times and elapsed time during game segments, and start or stop play when necessary.
• Report sporting activities, complaints, and actions taken or needed, such as fines or other disciplinary actions, to regulating organizations.
• Confer with other sporting officials, coaches, players, and facility managers to provide information, coordinate activities, and discuss problems.
• Perform sideline crew duties.
• Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
