About The Position

Plainfield Park District is seeking scorekeepers for basketball season. This part-time position involves working sport-specific shifts, with hours varying from 3 to 12 per week depending on the schedule. Available shifts include Fridays from 5:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m., Saturdays from 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 1:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., and Sundays from 8:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 12:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. Employees must work one Saturday shift each week. Compensation is $17–$19 per hour, depending on qualifications.

Requirements

• Be at least 16 years old.
• Have 1 year of practical experience in a sports-related field and detailed scorekeeping knowledge.
• Have experience playing or scorekeeping at any level in the assigned sport category.
• Be able to work hours specific to the sport category.
• Ability to lead and advise volunteers and participants to support successful games.
• Ability to follow direction and work independently.
• Be detail-oriented and have good organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

• C.P.R. and A.E.D. certification.

Responsibilities

• Operate the scoreboard, maintain the official scorebook, and enforce game rules.
• Participate in all required training.
• Enforce operating procedures to maintain a safe and efficient environment, and report inappropriate or unsafe practices to the Recreation Supervisor.
• Monitor the facility and game progress; respond to questions, complaints, and emergencies; take appropriate action; notify the Recreation Supervisor when necessary; and solve problems.
• Handle 911 emergency situations according to emergency procedures and notification processes.
• Assist with collecting outstanding paperwork from officials.
• Work hours specific to the sport category as directed by the Recreation Supervisor.
