About The Position

The Scorekeeper performs paraprofessional scorekeeping work in a gym or field, depending on the assigned activity area. The role includes preparing and putting away equipment, cleaning facilities, and opening and closing activity areas. Additional duties may include maintaining records and preparing game and accident reports, enforcing rules and policies for use of the activity area and those established by the Town's Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Department, and providing high-quality customer service to patrons, participants, and staff.

The Scorekeeper maintains the official scorebook, operates the scoreboard, and receives and distributes information to and from team coaches. The position completes accident or incident reports as needed and assists the Athletics Division upon request. Successful hiring is conditional on completing the Town's required substance abuse testing and a background screening, including NC State Bureau of Investigation fingerprinting. Candidates must report for the drug screen within 48 hours of accepting a conditional offer.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations available to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
• Completion of the Town-required substance abuse testing; candidates must report for the drug screen within 48 hours of accepting a conditional offer.
• Successful completion of a background screening, including NC State Bureau of Investigation fingerprinting.
