Sports Coach
About The Position
Elevo is seeking a Summer Sports Coach to join their mission of transforming student well-being through comprehensive programs infused with social-emotional learning (SEL). The role involves leading groups of students in structured competitive sports, games, and activities, fostering physical, mental, and academic well-being. Coaches will engage students in various sports, support their behavioral management needs with empathy, and serve as positive role models to build self-esteem and emotional wellness. This position offers paid training, professional development, and growth opportunities within an educational setting.
Requirements
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Complete and pass a Live-Scan background check.
- Complete and pass a TB screening.
- Previous experience in coaching or officiating competitive sports.
- 18+ years of age.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Reliable transportation.
- Successful working experience with elementary and/or middle school kids.
- Ability to confidently manage groups of up to 20 students with minimal assistance.
- Ability to improvise, adapt, and take initiative when needed.
- Approachable, empathetic, patient, and able to build trust with kids and families.
- Present yourself as a confident leader and a positive role model.
- Ensure activities run smoothly and efficiently within allocated timeframes.
Nice To Haves
- A minimum of 1 year of working experience in education, coaching, child development, or other child-focused roles strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead groups of students through structured competitive sports, games, and activities based on the Elevo curriculum.
- Engage students in competitive sports including basketball, volleyball, soccer, flag football, kickball, and more.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and school staff.
- Support kids’ behavioral management needs with empathy and patience.
- Collaborate seamlessly with school administrators, teachers, and fellow coaches.
- Lead outdoor lessons designed to increase excitement about learning.
- Serve as a positive role model to help build kids’ self-esteem and emotional wellness.
