About The Position

As a Sport Program Assistant, you will be at the centre of the action: setting up drills, running sport programs, engaging with youth, and generally bringing a positive, welcoming attitude to the space. You will be working on an energetic and active Sport Programming Team. This team prides itself on creating the absolute best experience for the youth within our space, and puts our “Youth First, Always” value at the core of its work. The Sport Programming Team is passionate about the community, supporting our hourly staff, the impact of sport, and we love to collaborate, learn and grow in the fun, fast-paced and inclusive environment of MLSE LaunchPad.

Requirements

  • You have a desire to better our community and city by working with young people.
  • You are excited to interact with diverse communities and community organizations.
  • You have familiarity delivering youth sport programming.
  • You have or are willing to get Standard First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • You have a clear Vulnerable Sector background check.
  • You are available to work flexible hours.
  • This is an in-person job and we are looking for someone with open availability in this role.
  • You care. Someone who shows up, someone who is kind, empathetic, fun, patient, and who does the right thing when noboby is looking.

Nice To Haves

  • Background and knowledge in children and youth sport, recreation, and/or physical activity programs is considered an asset.
  • HIGH FIVE training, NCCP Certifications, Mental Health First Aid, sport specific coaching certifications and experience - we're here for all of those!

Responsibilities

  • Fostering a culture of warmth, acceptance and fun at MLSE LaunchPad while ensuring adherence to expectations, and that respect and kindness are prioritized.
  • Supporting with the set-up and execution of in-person MLSE LaunchPad Sport For Development programs.
  • Assisting with the design, implementation, and evaluation of a sport program schedule for program participants that includes age-appropriate activities and all elements of MLSE LaunchPad core programming standards.
  • Instruct sport programs based on the specific sport and life skills objectives of MLSE LaunchPad programs.
  • Making sure that all of our youth are physically and mentally safe while participating in programming and that FUN is always top of mind.
  • Participating in special projects and other related duties as required.
