About The Position

Reporting to the Manager, Student Engagement, Health Promotion & Sport, the Student Engagement, Health Promotion & Sport Assistant provides comprehensive administrative, clerical, and operational support for student life, peer support, orientation, recreation, and sport-related programs and initiatives. The role supports the planning, promotion, coordination, and delivery activities of the department, while ensuring effective facility use, accurate records management, and a high standard of student service.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a two-year Recreation diploma or related program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two to four years of related experience in athletics, recreation, student life, or facility operations.
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, web editing, social media platforms
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to manage web content and other digital communication channels (e.g., social media)
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and assist with equipment setup and teardown

Responsibilities

  • Provides clerical and administrative support for departmental operations.
  • Drafts, assembles, and maintains departmental reports, statistics, registrations, and records.
  • Creates and maintains forms, templates, manuals, and bring-forward systems.
  • Responds to in-person, telephone, and digital inquiries.
  • Maintains departmental databases.
  • Assists with planning, coordination, promotion, and delivery of programs and events.
  • Coordinates venue bookings, IT/AV requests, food services, licensing, and logistics.
  • Represents Student Life at orientations, open houses, and transition activities.
  • Supports orientation and student transition initiatives.
  • Supports presentations and information sessions.
  • Assists with recruitment, onboarding, training, and scheduling.
  • Provides functional guidance.
  • Reviews timesheets.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
