SPMT Operator Journey

About The Position

The SPMT Operator will be responsible for evaluating loads requiring movement on SPMT equipment, determining risk categorization, and working with the Rigging/Transport Engineer to plan and execute loading/transport operations. This role requires the ability to read and understand transportation drawings for SPMT setup, demonstrate proper load securement, and evaluate transportation routing requirements for clearances and soil conditions. The operator will also set up staging equipment for self-offloading, maintain and inspect equipment, and perform assembly, disassembly, and reconfiguration of SPMT equipment. A working knowledge of hydraulic suspension, coordinate and valve/sensor assignment is necessary, along with assisting crane and rigging crews as part of the site heavy equipment team. Adherence to all safety procedures is paramount.

Requirements

Minimum of 48 months industrial construction experience.

Responsibilities

Evaluate loads requiring movement on SPMT equipment and determine risk categorization per Bechtel standards.
Work with Rigging/Transport Engineer to plan and execute loading/transport operation.
Read and understand transportation drawings for setup of SPMT equipment.
Understand and demonstrate proper load securement for transport.
Evaluate transportation routing requirements for adequate clearances and soil conditions.
Setup staging equipment for items to be self-offloaded.
Clean, maintain and inspect equipment for defective components and notify supervisor of any defects or malfunctions.
Perform assembly, disassemble and reconfiguration of SPMT equipment.
Understand and demonstrate working knowledge of hydraulic suspension, coordinate and valve/sensor assignment in accordance with engineered transport plans.
Assist crane and rigging crews with all tasks as part of the site heavy equipment team.
Adhere to all safety procedures.
