About The Position

This role involves supporting the operation of Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMT) in a construction environment. The helper will assist in evaluating loads, planning and executing transport operations, and ensuring the safe and efficient use of SPMT equipment. Key responsibilities include understanding transportation drawings, proper load securement, route evaluation, equipment maintenance, and assisting other heavy equipment teams.

Requirements

Must be able to read/understand transportation drawings for setup of SPMT equipment.
Understand and demonstrate proper load securement for transport.
Understand and demonstrate working knowledge of hydraulic suspension, coordinate and valve/sensor assignment in accordance with engineered transport plans.
Minimum of 6 months industrial construction experience.

Responsibilities

Evaluate loads requiring movement on SPMT equipment and determine risk categorization per Bechtel standards.
Work with Rigging/Transport Engineer to plan and execute loading/transport operation.
Read and understand transportation drawings for setup of SPMT equipment.
Understand and demonstrate proper load securement for transport.
Evaluate transportation routing requirements for adequate clearances and soil conditions.
Setup staging equipment for items to be self-offloaded.
Clean, maintain and inspect equipment for defective components and notify supervisor of any defects or malfunctions.
Perform assembly, disassemble and reconfiguration of SPMT equipment.
Understand and demonstrate working knowledge of hydraulic suspension, coordinate and valve/sensor assignment in accordance with engineered transport plans.
Assist crane and rigging crews with all tasks as part of the site heavy equipment team.
Adhere to all safety procedures.
