About The Position

The M GT MOLOKAI Department of the M GENERATION Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Bargaining Unit vacancy available. This role is classified as NON-EXEMPT. The Operator Helper trains to perform the duties of Chief Operator, performs additional duties as assigned, and carries out general maintenance tasks as assigned. Requirements

Ability to identify and distinguish the difference between colors, including shades, hues, and tints. (for electrician related positions)
Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver’s license.
Must meet the standards for driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Driving Positions policy.
Must pass the Edison Electric Institute Plant Operator Selection System (POSS).
Must pass the Job Sample Test.

Nice To Haves

Employees who have taken and passed the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) do not need to take the POSS.

Responsibilities

Trains to perform the duties of Chief Operator; performs additional duties as assigned; performs general maintenance as assigned.
Works a shift with a Chief Operator and trains to perform the duties of the Chief Operator classification.
Stands day watch as assigned.
Collects diesel engine water samples and adds chemicals.
Receives fuel oil and witnesses delivery.
Cleans oil purifiers and performs greasing duties.
Performs in relief capacity as Chief Operator when qualified.
When not standing watch, is assigned operational maintenance work at the diesel plant.
Provides assistance to Diesel Maintenance Mechanic and Maintenance Electrician.
Keeps equipment and work area clean.
Inspects, receives, and stores incoming materials and supplies from vendors.
Maintains watch until relieved.
Performs janitorial and grounds maintenance as required.
Performs similar and incidental duties as required.
Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.
