About The Position

Spartanburg Medical Center (SMC), a part of the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System (SRHS), is a research and teaching, Level I Trauma Center, and Baby-Friendly® hospital located in the upstate of South Carolina. Pediatric Rehabilitation Services, located at the SMC-Church Street campus, offers inpatient and outpatient PT, OT, and SLP services to individuals from birth to 21 years of age. The Speech-Language Pathologist evaluates and treats patients by referral, planning and executing treatment programs to restore function, prevent disability, and maximize the potential and quality of life. This role involves re-evaluations, supervisory visits, modifying treatment plans, and utilizing effective communication techniques. The position may also involve supervising Rehab Techs and students, and participating in community presentations and staff education as directed by supervisors.

Requirements

  • MS/MA in Speech Language-Pathology
  • CPR-AHA BLS
  • SC SLP License/ Certificate of Clinical Competence or CFY

Nice To Haves

  • Background or experience in pediatrics is preferred.
  • One to five (1-5) years clinical experience

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and treats patients by referral.
  • Plans treatment programs and performs therapy to restore function, prevent disability, and maximize the potential and quality of life following disease, injury or surgery.
  • Performs re-evaluations and supervisory visits per state practice act.
  • Appropriately modifies treatment plans and procedures.
  • Uses appropriate communication techniques to achieve optimal results.
  • May supervise Rehab Techs and students.
  • Participates in community presentations, staff education, and other departmental activities as requested by the supervisor, manager or director.
