About The Position

Provide speech and language services to special education students according to each Individualized Education Plan. Candidate is under the direct supervision of a Certified Speech and Language Pathologist.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (in the area of Speech Pathology preferred)
  • State License for an Assistant in Speech Language Pathology issued by the state of Texas, or be eligible for a deficiency plan with Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation (TDLR) to be completed in the school district
  • Understanding of the educational model for speech therapy services
  • Ability to utilize the district special education software for student records
  • Ability to utilize iPad or other technology in therapy

Responsibilities

  • Implement a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of speech impaired students developed by the supervising speech language pathologist.
  • Therapy planning and preparation of clinical materials.
  • Conduct/participate in speech and language screenings.
  • Maintain clinical log of therapy sessions for each student served.
  • Collect data.
  • Bill Medicaid for services provided to eligible students.
  • Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director of Special Education and/or supervising SLP within the scope of practice.
