About The Position

The Speech Language Pathologist will work in the Inpatient Rehabilitation Center at Texas Health Dallas. This is a full-time position with 6.5 hour shifts, Monday through Friday. The role requires 3 weekend days per 6 weeks and one major and two minor holidays each year. The Inpatient Rehabilitation Center is a CARF accredited 44-bed unit with Stroke and Amputee Program certifications, recognized as a top rehabilitation hospital by U.S. News. It is a patient-focused unit with a diverse and progressive team dedicated to patient outcomes and individualized care.

Requirements

Master's Degree Speech Language Pathology or Post-Baccalaureate degree recognized by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
SLP - Speech Language Pathology Texas Speech Language Pathology License Required upon hire or SLP-I - Speech Language Pathology Intern Texas Speech Language Pathology Required upon hire
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support Required prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
Good verbal and written communication skills in English
Problem solving ability
Ability to teach others
Time management skills
Good interpersonal and customer service skills
Basic leadership skills

Responsibilities

Uses therapeutic treatment techniques appropriate to patient age and desire for treatment
Performs treatment procedures that are within the scope of the professional license
Performs/delegates technical procedures appropriately and safely
Utilizes a variety of treatment techniques to achieve goals, if necessary
Determines patient response to treatment and evaluates progress (reassessment)
Educates patient and family through instruction, demonstration, and/or appropriate handouts in treatment plan, safety issues, home programs/self management and assistive equipment
Demonstrates competence in the performance of age-appropriate patient treatment and individualizes care based on age specific needs
