About The Position

At New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, our Speech-Language Pathologists help patients with serious impairments connect with the world around them. Our tremendous team provides the expertise patients need to flourish in the areas of dysphagia and communication. We are looking for a new team member to become one of the people who make this possible. Become a member of our dynamic Speech-Language Pathology Department today. In this role, you will evaluate and treat adult patients with communication and swallowing disorders in an outpatient setting. You will work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary care team to provide exceptional care and address patient goals. Ideal candidates will have experience evaluating and treating speech-language, cognition, and swallowing in the adult population as a result of traumatic brain injury, neurological, cardiac, GI, and medical diagnoses. This position will work at our New York-Presbyterian/Brooklyn Methodist Hospital location.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Certification by the American Speech and Hearing Association within 1 year of hire
  • New York State Licensure in Speech-Language Pathology within 1 year of hire
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required
  • All roles require on-site presence (variable by role). Therefore, all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP.

Nice To Haves

  • Voice experience highly preferred
  • Experience treating adults with traumatic brain injury and a variety of neurological diagnoses
  • Experience working with patients with head and neck cancer, including pre- and post-operative rehabilitation, radiation-related complications, and laryngeal communication.
  • Experience evaluating and treating adult communication and swallowing disorders
  • Experience in dysphagia evaluation/treatment across the lifespan
  • Experience changing and managing TEPs, including prosthesis changes and troubleshooting
  • Competency and experience in Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies and/or FEES
  • Experience working with an interdisciplinary team, including ENT, Neurology, Oncology
