About The Position

Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI), a division of FullBloom, provides educational services for K–12 students who need additional support to succeed in traditional school settings. SESI partners with school districts to operate in-district classrooms and standalone schools addressing students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. The SPED Teacher helps identify and address students’ learning, social, and emotional skill gaps; collaborates with school teams and families; and delivers personalized instruction using SESI’s evidence-based instructional models and behavioral support framework. The position serves students in smaller classes and diverse educational settings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
• Valid teaching credential appropriate to the role.
• Commitment to learning and implementing feedback.
• Adaptability and flexibility.
• Ability to run short distances and move swiftly in response to student needs, including bending, kneeling, and crouching.
• Ability to lift and assist students with mobility challenges, often handling up to 50 pounds or more.
• Fine motor skills for assisting students with writing, manipulating small objects, or using adaptive devices.
• Ability to operate a computer or tablet for up to 8 hours daily.
• Ability to notice and respond to students’ non-verbal cues.
• Ability to remain calm and composed during physically and emotionally demanding situations to ensure student safety and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Work with students from varied developmental, cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Use SESI instructional models, strategies, and curricula to teach knowledge and skills, build confidence and character, and meet students’ needs.
• Develop and maintain individualized, skill-appropriate lesson plans.
• Implement behavior-management and intervention strategies, including de-escalation, crisis management, and physical restraint when necessary to maintain student and staff safety.
• Maintain student documents, including IEPs, BIPs, incident reports, and high-risk evaluation forms.
• Drive, record, and track student progress toward academic, social, and emotional goals.
• Supervise and monitor students, including while they travel to and from locations within the school.
