About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a dedicated and motivated Specimen Processor to join its Specimen Management team in Portland, Oregon. The role acts as a liaison between the laboratory, clients, and patients, resolving requests and providing information while preparing, identifying, triaging, storing, and shipping specimens for analysis. The work schedule is Saturday from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. and Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with laboratory operations, policies, and procedures.
Comfort handling biological specimens.
Ability to accurately identify specimens.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Strong data-entry and organizational skills.
High level of attention to detail.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

Current or prior Labcorp experience.
Associate degree.
Six months or more of experience in a medical or clinical laboratory.

Responsibilities

Act as a liaison between the laboratory, clients, and patients.
Resolve internal and external customer requests through calls, instant messaging, and email.
Communicate with customers respectfully and professionally.
Use multiple databases to research complex issues and questions.
Provide customer education and information as needed.
Review test forms for accuracy and report discrepancies.
Prepare and triage specimens for analysis.
Accurately identify and label specimens.
Pack and ship specimens as necessary.
Prepare and store excess specimen samples.
