About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor I to join its team in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The role involves preparing clinical laboratory specimens for analysis, sorting and routing them, and entering patient information accurately in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment while following established standard operating procedures. The processor also labels, packs, ships, and stores specimens, works toward departmental production goals, and documents or resolves specimen problems. The position requires handling biological specimens and lifting up to 40 pounds. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with rotating Saturdays. Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Comfort handling biological specimens.
Ability to accurately identify specimens.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Strong data-entry and organizational skills.
High level of attention to detail.
Experience with MS Office.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

One or more years of experience in a laboratory, accessioning, production, manufacturing, or warehouse setting.

Responsibilities

Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas.
Accurately identify and label specimens.
Pack and ship specimens to the proper testing facilities.
Meet department activity and production goals.
Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
Enter patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
Resolve and document problem specimens.
Perform clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry according to established standard operating procedures.
