About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor I to join its team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The role prepares, sorts, identifies, labels, stores, and ships laboratory specimens for testing, while entering patient information and resolving and documenting specimen problems. Work takes place in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment and follows established standard operating procedures. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., with rotating Saturdays.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Comfort handling biological specimens.
Ability to accurately identify specimens.
Experience working in a team environment.
Strong data-entry and organizational skills.
High level of attention to detail.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

One year or more of experience in a laboratory, accessioning, production, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
One year or more of medical or production experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas.
Accurately identify and label specimens.
Pack and ship specimens to the proper testing facilities.
Meet department activity and production goals.
Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
Enter patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
Resolve and document problem specimens.
Perform clinical specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry according to established standard operating procedures.
