About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Processor I to join its team in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The role involves preparing clinical laboratory specimens for analysis and testing, accessioning and sorting samples, and entering patient information in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment. Work is performed according to established standard operating procedures, with attention to accuracy, specimen identification, and department production goals. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., with rotating Saturdays. The position also includes unpacking, routing, labeling, storing, packing, and shipping specimens, as well as resolving and documenting problem specimens.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Comfortable handling biological specimens.
Ability to accurately identify specimens.
Experience working in a team environment.
Strong data-entry and organizational skills.
High level of attention to detail.
Proficient in MS Office.
Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

One or more years of experience in a laboratory, accessioning, production, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
One or more years of medical or production experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas.
Accurately identify and label specimens.
Pack and ship specimens to appropriate testing facilities.
Meet department activity and production goals.
Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
Enter patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
Resolve and document problem specimens.
Perform clinical specimen accessioning and sample sorting in accordance with established standard operating procedures.
