About The Position

The Specimen Accessioner is responsible for the receipt and processing of specimens.

Requirements

High School Education preferred.
Requires an ability to focus and an attention to accuracy and detail.
Must display interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
Ability to work well as part of a team.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and see tasks through to completion.
Physical stamina, including standing for long periods, walking, bending and reaching to perform tests and managing equipment.
Ability to perform repetitive manual tasks using hands and fingers for extended periods of time.
Must be able to handle small tools, instruments and laboratory equipment with precision.
Must be able to wear PPE, such as lab coats, masks, gloves, and eye protection.
Ability to handle chemicals safely.
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

Responsibilities

Enters patient demographic and testing information into the laboratory information system.
Examines specimens for adequacy.
Labels specimens and prepares aliquots.
Delivers specimens to proper laboratory departments for analysis.
Assists with other data entry and clerical functions as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
