About The Position

The Compleat Food Group is hiring a Specification Technologist to join its NPD team and work cross-site on upcoming projects. This is a home-based role, with occasional ad-hoc travel to sites across the group. The position is available as either a permanent role or a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role is responsible for completing and maintaining customer specifications and portal systems, managing specification administration from concept through delisting, and helping ensure product, raw-material, packaging, and supplier information is accurate and compliant. The Specification Technologist works with Procurement, Technical, Packaging, Product Development, and other teams, supporting artwork amendments and documentation and updating specifications for ongoing projects, including site product transfers. The Compleat Food Group is a UK food business formed in 2021. It has over 6,000 colleagues across 17 sites and an annual turnover of £1.3bn. Its portfolio includes brands such as Wall’s Pastry, Pork Farms, Wrights, The Real Yorkshire Pudding Co., unearthed, Vadasz, Squeaky Bean, Palace Culture, and Harvey & Brockless, and it supplies own-label products to major UK retailers and foodservice.

Requirements

Experience with customer specification systems in a food-related setting.
HACCP or food safety training.
Critical path management skills.
Food manufacturing experience.
Planning, organisation, and project management skills.

Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

Complete and maintain customer specifications and portal systems in line with customer category plans and company objectives, including information on raw materials, packaging, and legality.
Work with Procurement, Technical, and Packaging teams to ensure accurate raw-material and packaging supplier information is acquired and maintained.
Manage the specification administration process from concept through to delisting.
Follow current labelling guidelines and customer codes of practice, and understand customer policies and procedures.
Complete documentation to support the product development team and wider business when required.
Support artwork amendments to produce legal packaging in line with company, retailer, and industry standards.
Update specifications for ongoing company projects, including site product transfers.
