Specialty Representative/Sr Specialty Representative - Primary Care - San Francisco, CA
About The Position
Amgen is seeking a Specialty Representative or Senior Specialty Representative to serve as the primary customer contact for its products in a territory covering San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, and San Mateo, California. The representative provides clinical product knowledge to medical professionals, communicates product benefits, helps customers navigate the payer environment, and implements marketing strategy as directed by the District Manager. The role may be performed through in-person and virtual customer engagement. Relocation is not offered. The position level and title will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience for the geography. Amgen offers a base salary range of $89,880–$121,602 for the Specialty Representative opportunity and $126,540–$171,202 for the Senior Specialty Representative opportunity. Actual salary depends on relevant skills, experience, and qualifications. Requirements
- For Specialty Representative: bachelor’s degree; or associate degree and 4 years of sales experience; or high school diploma/GED and 6 years of sales experience.
- For Senior Specialty Representative: bachelor’s degree and 3 years of sales and/or non-sales clinical experience in a healthcare or scientific field; or associate degree and 6 years of such experience; or high school diploma/GED and 8 years of such experience.
Nice To Haves
- Sales, marketing, and/or clinical experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, healthcare insurance, pharmacy services, healthcare medical device, or medical supply industries.
- For Specialty Representative, some experience, pre-graduate sales training, and/or a proven track record of successful leadership under pressure.
- For Senior Specialty Representative, 3 or more years of experience.
- Product or hospital sales experience in oncology, cardiology, inflammation, nephrology, dermatology, rheumatology, neurology, endocrinology, hepatology, gastroenterology, bone health, respiratory, hematology, or infectious diseases, including familiarity with related diseases and treatments.
- Advanced influencing and relationship-building skills focused on sales outcomes.
- Local market knowledge.
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Business Administration.
- Adaptability in sales planning and organizing, leveraging business, industry, and technical knowledge, communicating with impact, driving results, and cultivating internal and external relationships.
Responsibilities
- Provide current and comprehensive knowledge of Amgen products and communicate their clinical benefits to medical professionals to support appropriate product utilization.
- Drive territory sales through branded sales messages, planned programs, medical education programs, and achievement of sales targets through in-person and virtual engagement.
- Develop and manage customer and account relationships, tailoring interactions to customer needs, ensuring product access, triaging or resolving reimbursement issues, and maintaining product contracts.
- Provide feedback on marketing strategy, analyze sales activity and territory performance, and develop territory plans with the District Manager.
- Partner with colleagues to share best practices and support continued learning and development.
- Promote Amgen products throughout the sales cycle while building the brand and maintaining a focus on serving patients.
