About The Position
Amgen is hiring a Specialty Representative or Senior Specialty Representative to serve as the primary customer contact for Amgen products in a territory covering Secaucus, Teterboro, Carlstadt, and Cliffside Park, New Jersey. The representative provides clinical product knowledge to medical professionals and helps them navigate the payer environment. The role implements marketing strategy and promotes Amgen products as directed by the District Manager. Relocation is not offered. The role level and title will be selected based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience for the geography.
Requirements
- Specialty Representative: Bachelor’s degree; or associate degree and 4 years of sales experience; or high school diploma/GED and 6 years of sales experience.
- Senior Specialty Representative: Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of sales experience and/or non-sales clinical experience in a healthcare or scientific field; or associate degree and 6 years of such experience; or high school diploma/GED and 8 years of such experience.
- Adaptability in the core competencies of sales planning and organizing, leveraging business, industry, and technical knowledge, communicating with impact, driving for results, and cultivating internal and external relationships.
Nice To Haves
- Sales, marketing, or clinical experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, healthcare insurance, pharmacy services, healthcare medical device, or medical supply industries.
- For Specialty Representative: some experience, pre-graduate sales training, and/or a proven track record of successful leadership under pressure.
- For Senior Specialty Representative: 3 or more years of experience preferred.
- Product or hospital sales experience in oncology, cardiology, inflammation, nephrology, dermatology, rheumatology, neurology, endocrinology, hepatology, gastroenterology, bone health, respiratory, hematology, or infectious diseases and related treatments.
- Advanced influencing and relationship-building skills focused on sales outcomes.
- Local market knowledge.
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or Business Administration.
Responsibilities
- Provide current, comprehensive knowledge of Amgen products and communicate their clinical benefits to medical professionals to support appropriate utilization.
- Drive territory sales through branded sales messages, planned programs, medical education programs, follow-up, and achievement of sales targets through in-person and virtual engagement.
- Develop and manage customer accounts by tailoring discussions to customer needs, supporting product access, triaging or resolving reimbursement issues, and maintaining product contracts.
- Provide feedback on marketing strategy, analyze the effectiveness of sales activities and territory performance, and develop territory plans with the District Manager.
- Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and support learning and development.
- Maintain enthusiasm for Amgen products throughout the sales cycle, build the brand, and keep patient service in focus.
