About The Position

The Specialty Artist – MAC maximizes sales for the MAC brand, including color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance, by engaging guests, identifying their needs, and helping them select and purchase merchandise. The role also maintains store standards for cleanliness and replenishment and represents Ulta Beauty and MAC to guests. It supports the Experience Manager through a focus on sales and in-store events, guest service and associate culture, and operating procedures and compliance. The position requires professional-caliber makeup artistry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge. The Specialty Artist provides personalized makeup demonstrations, applications, and lessons, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations; builds guest relationships and clientele; communicates promotions and product knowledge; and supports appointments, events, and sales goals. The role also maintains assigned areas and testers, participates in training and store operations, and follows company and brand policies and standards.

Requirements

Cosmetology or demonstrator license where required by state law.
Demonstrated competency in sales, products, and service.
Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.

Ability to handle guest concerns positively and proactively and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Meet or exceed MAC brand sales and service goals and contribute to store goals for retail and service sales, guest loyalty, omnichannel, and retail shrink.
Build and maintain guest relationships, keep an active preferred guest list, and follow up on guest inquiries.
Greet and engage guests, personalize service, offer samples, and recommend complementary products or services.
Conduct professional-caliber makeup demonstrations, applications, and lessons, skincare analyses, and product demonstrations according to MAC and Ulta Beauty standards.
Study and practice Skill Certification requirements and complete appropriate skill sets within the specified time frame.
Stay informed about promotions and marketing initiatives and communicate them to guests.
Book appointments and support services and in-store events that provide a strong guest experience and meet sales goals.
Stay informed about industry trends, products, services, ingredients, and benefits during work time.
Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
Contribute to an inclusive environment for teammates, peers, and guests.
Explain the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
Maintain and update an active MAC clientele portfolio.
Represent Ulta Beauty and MAC by sharing product knowledge, makeup techniques, trend information, and MAC programs and philosophies, including Back to MAC.
Maintain relationships with MAC brand partners through required training and participation in events and promotions.
Participate in ongoing brand and category training and professional development.
Collaborate with store managers and associates to help grow the business.
Follow Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, and standards, as well as the Ulta Beauty and MAC dress code.
Keep the assigned work area replenished, signed, and faced, and ensure testers are available and maintained according to hygiene standards.
Maintain store and MAC operational standards and cleanliness, including participation in the MAC recycling program and upkeep of assigned areas.
Participate in merchandise resets, planograms, marketing displays, physical inventory, and shipment processing using company-provided technology and best practices.
Protect company assets by following loss-prevention practices and providing exceptional guest service.
Complete other operational tasks as directed.
