About The Position

The Voyage Skills Instructor is a specialized role within Communitas’ Day Services Program, providing personal care and skill-development training in an enhanced ratio for individuals with developmental disabilities. Voyage is one of Communitas’ Autism Programs, with a structured schedule of activities emphasizing communication and sensory needs. The position is based in Wakefield, Massachusetts, and is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It is classified as non-exempt and pays $21.50 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Pass company background and reference checks.
Hold a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record.
Have a passion and dedication for supporting the people served.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field.
At least one year of experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement activities that promote personal choice, community inclusion, dignity, and respect while enhancing personal skill development.
Ensure activities and training enhance individuals’ Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
Actively participate in interventions and provide positive, knowledgeable support to employees and managers.
Ensure crisis plans and behavior support plans are followed.
Provide personal care and assistance consistent with individuals’ needs as they work toward their goals.
