About The Position
DABS, Inc. provides skills training and supported living services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Skills Instructor works directly with adults with developmental disabilities to help them develop skills for employment, volunteer work, post-secondary education, and community participation, with the goal of greater independence. The role delivers person-centered instruction in community settings, supports access to community resources and activities, and collaborates with other professionals to provide comprehensive support.
Requirements
- A caring attitude and commitment to helping others live with dignity and independence.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- A valid driver’s license, personal vehicle, and insurance.
- Willingness to undergo state and federal fingerprint background checks.
- CPR certification and a recent TB test; the employer can help obtain these if needed.

- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities; training is provided for candidates who bring passion and dedication.
Responsibilities
- Provide person-centered instruction through planned community activities.
- Support individuals in accessing community resources, planning activities, and strengthening their skills.
- Take individuals on community outings for appointments, errands, or recreation.
- Track and document progress through accurate, concise case notes.
- Redirect inappropriate behaviors and facilitate positive resolutions to challenges.
- Collaborate with a team of professionals to ensure comprehensive support.
