About The Position

This position will have multiple operational responsibilities in the areas of Customer Service and Carrier Relations, all designed to promote the growth and profitability of Epes Logistics Services, Inc. The role involves daily interaction with customers to understand and meet their needs, managing order entry for load pick-ups, coordinating carrier pick-ups and deliveries, monitoring customer activity for satisfaction and performance, and collaborating with the sales force to identify new opportunities. The position also handles customer complaints, prices lanes, telemarkets potential customers, and conducts site visits. On the carrier relations side, the role is responsible for securing freight capacity, implementing pick-up and delivery schedules, tracking loads, monitoring affiliate carrier performance, and handling capacity-related complaints. General duties include participating in a rotating on-call schedule with weekend duties, coordinating plans with senior staff for profitability and customer service, supporting other coordinators, and adhering to all relevant regulations. The role also supports the company's Quality Management System and participates in process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years related experience.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.
  • Excellent work history with proven track record.
  • Excellent data entry skills—accuracy is very important.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug test.
  • Professional, clean, neat appearance.
  • No convictions of serious crimes.
  • Ability to read and comprehend general instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to read, write and speak Spanish fluently (Mexico Division Only).
  • Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and speak before groups of employees and outside consultants and respond to questions/comments from the same.

Responsibilities

  • Talk with customers by phone on a daily basis, identifying stated needs and developing programs to meet customer expectations.
  • Enter into ELS Database orders for load pick-ups which will provide accurate customer billing and carrier settlements.
  • Coordination of designated carrier-to-customer pick-up with time of pick-up, delivery, and special instructions as directed by the customer.
  • Monitor customer activity on a daily, weekly, and annual basis to ensure maximum customer satisfaction, lane analysis, on-time performance, and new activity trends.
  • Interact with sales force to identify new opportunities with existing and potential new customers.
  • Adjust complaints concerning billing or service rendered, referring complaints of service failures to designated provider for investigation.
  • Price lanes as requested by customer and sales department.
  • Telemarket potential customers and report results to sales department for follow up.
  • Site visits to customers as directed by Director of Operations / Operations Manager / Regional Director of Terminal Operations and Marketing Mexico / or sales department.
  • Responsible for securing adequate capacity for freight booked in assigned region.
  • Responsible for decisions and implementation of pick-up and delivery to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Responsible for tracking and tracing loads enroute, scheduled for pick-up, and those with delivery status.
  • Responsible for tracking affiliate carriers via ELS Database for on-time service.
  • Responsible for handling complaints concerning billing or service rendered on capacity side.
  • Coordinate and monitor performance of affiliate and partner carriers.
  • Work with dedicated carriers to ensure commitments are met.
  • Participate in a rotating “on duty” schedule that includes working a partial weekend and being on duty for the following week.
  • Discuss and coordinate plans and programs with the assigned Senior Logistics Coordinator or the Vice President of Operations to ensure maximum profitability and customer service.
  • Support other Logistics Coordinators as work balance changes to ensure that each and every opportunity is maximized.
  • Adhere to and comply with Federal, State, DOT, OSHA, and Company rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrates support to the Epes Carriers, Inc. Quality Management System and its objectives, as applicable.
  • Work with the Vice President of Quality to establish and promote a true quality improvement process to include the Quality Management System at the company with the involvement of all personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or become necessary.
