About The Position
The Retail Web Technology organization develops and maintains Schwab’s digital self-service platform for retail clients. The Software Development and Engineering Specialist is a hands-on technical leader who contributes across the full software development lifecycle, with an emphasis on front-end development. The role partners with cross-functional team members to design, develop, test, optimize, and deliver reliable web solutions that create value for clients. The specialist promotes high standards for code quality, usability, accessibility, scalability, and application performance. The role also includes mentoring teammates, encouraging diverse perspectives, and fostering an open, collaborative environment. In addition to software development responsibilities, the specialist serves as the team’s acting Scrum Master, facilitating Agile ceremonies and helping the team strengthen collaboration, alignment, continuous improvement, and predictable delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Three or more years of full-stack web development experience, with an emphasis on front-end development.
- Experience developing applications using C# and .NET Core.
- Proficiency with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Experience creating and consuming RESTful services.
- Experience developing responsive web applications and single-page applications.
- Understanding of Agile software development principles and experience working on a Scrum-based delivery team.
- Strong technical and business communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across different organizational levels.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing highly usable, reliable, and scalable software solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems in a dynamic, collaborative, and customer-focused environment.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of assignments, and partner effectively with others to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Commitment to continuously developing technical and professional skills and learning emerging technologies.
- Experience with unit-testing patterns and test-driven development or behavior-driven development methodologies.
- Fluency with AI tools to support individual or team productivity in coding, debugging, testing, documentation, and refactoring.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Angular, TypeScript, or other client-side frameworks.
- Experience with web accessibility standards, practices, and implementation.
- Knowledge of authentication and authorization frameworks, including OAuth 2.0, SAML, and JWT.
- Experience evaluating, monitoring, and improving application performance.
- Familiarity with scripting languages and development automation.
- Experience applying artificial intelligence tools to coding, debugging, testing, documentation, refactoring, or individual and team productivity.
- Experience mentoring developers and providing hands-on technical leadership.
- Experience serving as a Scrum Master or facilitating sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and backlog-refinement sessions.
