About The Position

Fiserv is seeking a hands-on Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) for Clover’s Quality Engineering organization. The role contributes to the evolution of merchant and consumer payment platforms by designing and scaling test automation for Consumer Mobile Applications, web interfaces, APIs, and physical point-of-sale devices. The SDET will help shift testing earlier in development, build resilient mobile and hardware test environments, streamline CI/CD release pipelines, and automate end-to-end user journeys across merchant devices and consumer applications. The position works closely with Product Owners and Software Engineers to establish acceptance criteria and integrate automated coverage into sprint work. It also involves debugging platform issues, investigating test failures, tracking quality metrics, and using AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate test development. This is an on-site role Monday through Friday. The work requires use of a computer and audio equipment. Candidates must already have valid and unrestricted U.S. work authorization; sponsorship is not available.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in Software QA Engineering, Automation Engineering, or Software Development.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on programming experience in Java, TypeScript, or Python.
  • At least 2 years of dedicated experience building, maintaining, and executing automated UI and API test frameworks.
  • Expertise testing REST APIs using tools and concepts such as Postman, HTTP, and JSON, and writing SQL queries for data verification.
  • Practical experience testing across front-end UI, service/API, and back-end database layers.
  • Proficiency with defect tracking and test management systems such as Jira, Confluence, ALM, or MTM.
  • Valid and unrestricted U.S. work authorization; candidates requiring sponsorship now or in the future are not considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with Appium for mobile automation across iOS and Android.
  • Experience with Cypress or Playwright for end-to-end web application and UI testing.
  • Familiarity with Karate Framework for API automation, mock services, and contract validation.
  • Experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or Gemini to accelerate scripting and test environment setup.
  • Exposure to developing frameworks and scenarios for load, stress, and performance testing.
  • Ability to configure test environments and integrate automated test runs into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Harness.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and scale automated testing frameworks for native iOS and Android applications, web interfaces, and physical point-of-sale hardware.
  • Develop and maintain UI and functional test suites for Consumer Mobile Applications and embedded terminal devices.
  • Expand automated REST API test suites and mock services, integrating them into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Software Engineers to review user stories, define acceptance criteria early, and include automated testing in sprint deliverables.
  • Debug complex platform issues, perform root-cause analysis of test failures, and track quality metrics using Jira and Confluence.
  • Use AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, and Gemini to accelerate test-script development, refactor framework code, and generate synthetic test data.
  • Advocate for merchant and consumer experience by providing technical feedback to refine product design and UX workflows.
