Position Summary The Quality Specialist independently performs routine & non-routine assignments of moderate complexity in support of Quality within the plant, and to achieve organizational objectives. These assignments can vary from day-to-day support, project & continuous improvement efforts, and colleague development.

Requirements

Proven technical and supervisory skills in manufacturing environment
Education – A technical or engineering degree, a 2-year technical degree, or post high school training with equivalent experience in quality or mechanical engineering fundamentals.
Demonstrated ability to solve a variety of complex technical problems.
Demonstrated continuous improvement initiative, mentality, cost reduction and project implementation.
Demonstrated ability to meet objectives on time and within scope/expectations of assignments
Computer skills including Microsoft Office, SAP, etc… desired

Responsibilities

Applies problem solving methods to appropriate applications & effectively achieves quality results.
Development of colleagues in area of Quality Inspection.
Uses DOE methods to independently plan, prepare, run & report results of quality trials.
Applies for statistical/quality techniques in product monitoring. Take actions to prevent non-conformant products.
Conduct and leads internal quality audits. Plans, initiates and follows up on corrective actions. Verifies corrective actions are effective.
Participates in continuous improvement activities in Quality including 5S and lean manufacturing.
Participates in training courses related to Quality. Learn about new developments in Quality and Lean. Apply to assigned tasks & share with others within the Quality Department or assigned areas in the Plant.
Participate on teams relating to Quality materials, and other Value Stream product or process improvements & cost savings within and outside the Quality Department.
Identify & suggest ways to improve the Quality within area of responsibility or plantwide.
Perform supervisory duties for (2) Quality Technicians.
