Position Summary The Quality Specialist independently performs routine & non-routine assignments of moderate complexity in support of Quality within the plant, and to achieve organizational objectives. These assignments can vary from day-to-day support, project & continuous improvement efforts, and colleague development.

Requirements

  • Proven technical and supervisory skills in manufacturing environment
  • Education – A technical or engineering degree, a 2-year technical degree, or post high school training with equivalent experience in quality or mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve a variety of complex technical problems.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement initiative, mentality, cost reduction and project implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet objectives on time and within scope/expectations of assignments
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office, SAP, etc… desired

Responsibilities

  • Applies problem solving methods to appropriate applications & effectively achieves quality results.
  • Development of colleagues in area of Quality Inspection.
  • Uses DOE methods to independently plan, prepare, run & report results of quality trials.
  • Applies for statistical/quality techniques in product monitoring. Take actions to prevent non-conformant products.
  • Conduct and leads internal quality audits. Plans, initiates and follows up on corrective actions. Verifies corrective actions are effective.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities in Quality including 5S and lean manufacturing.
  • Participates in training courses related to Quality. Learn about new developments in Quality and Lean. Apply to assigned tasks & share with others within the Quality Department or assigned areas in the Plant.
  • Participate on teams relating to Quality materials, and other Value Stream product or process improvements & cost savings within and outside the Quality Department.
  • Identify & suggest ways to improve the Quality within area of responsibility or plantwide.
  • Perform supervisory duties for (2) Quality Technicians.
