About The Position

At U.S. Boiler Company, we are proud to offer residential and commercial heating products that have been designed, engineered, and manufactured domestically. Headquartered in Lancaster, PA, our facilities employ nearly 300 people from our community. Every product that leaves our factory has been designed, engineered, and produced for exclusive use in North America. U.S. Boiler Company is a subsidiary of Burnham Holdings, Inc. We are seeking a Quality Inspector to join our team! This position inspects products at various stages of the production process to ensure quality and reliability. This is a full-time position located in Lancaster, PA. Hours are Monday through Friday 6am - 2:30pm. Occasional mandatory overtime.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 2+ years of quality inspection experience preferred.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to learn other mathematical functions, as needed, to perform other duties.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of database software; manufacturing software and word processing software.
  • Basic Microsoft Word & Excel knowledge.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally life and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and ability to differentiate colors.

  • Material Return and ASME experience and/or boiler experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Inspects products at various stages of production processes and works with assemblers on assembly lines to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Helps drive process control by engaging with assemblers and operators.
  • Records accurate results of inspections and audits.
  • Controls nonconforming products to prevent inadvertent use that can reach our customers.
  • Performs accurate computer transactions of nonconforming material to ensure financials and inventory levels are accurate.
  • Embraces and models our Core Values through actions and decision-making.
  • Reads & interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, and bills of material.
  • Reads & understands assembly work instructions and inspection templates.
  • Inspects boilers, sub-assemblies, kitted cartons, machine castings, and other components using various measuring equipment (calipers, bore gages, thread gages, etc.).
  • Quarantines nonconforming product and writes nonconformance reports (NCRs).
  • Processes nonconforming material per supervisor’s requests.
  • Communicates any findings found during inspections.
  • Investigates and contains issues when nonconforming product is found.
  • Helps ensure no nonconforming product reaches our customer.
  • Assists with testing components and/or completed boilers.
  • Assists with programming of controls.
  • Assists in Material Returns department as directed by Supervisor.
  • Cross trains for other QA duties as needed for department efficiency, and under Supervisor direction.
  • Uses a computer or tablet to perform inspections and record results, as well as write NCRs.
