About The Position

The Marketing Compliance Specialist role serves as an operational link between Marketing, Legal, IT, and vendors, translating compliance and risk requirements into scalable, day‑to‑day marketing practices. This role ensures that marketing practices align with privacy laws, accessibility standards, and internal governance policies. The Specialist conducts audits, partners with cross‑functional teams on processes related to those audits, maintains documentation, and contributes to ongoing improvement of processes and tools. This role plays a key part in protecting customer data, reducing risk, and ensuring marketing operates responsibly and effectively within regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in marketing operations, compliance, or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or highly relevant work experience
  • Experience with marketing compliance technology (e.g., tags, cookies, analytics, privacy consent management).
  • Experience with compliance monitoring tools (e.g., OneTrust, ObservePoint, AXE Monitor, or similar)
  • Familiarity with various marketing compliance requirements: privacy regulations such as CCPA/CPRA (California Consumer Privacy Act/California Privacy Rights Act), digital accessibility, and related.
  • Experience creating and maintaining process guides as well as supporting training and onboarding.

Responsibilities

  • Function as the department’s compliance lead, assisting in coordinating related initiatives and training.
  • Serve as the primary owner of compliance platforms (e.g. OneTrust, AXE Monitor, ObservePoint and similar), leading configuration, testing, and audit readiness.
  • Set up and conduct compliance audits using established processes related to CCPA, privacy, tag/cookie consent, ADA, AI and other compliance related topics using appropriate tools/platforms.
  • Support DSAR (Data Subject Access Request) execution and evidence tracking (e.g., intake routing, data source coordination, and response tracking), while Legal retains policy interpretation and final approval.
  • Maintain an inventory of marketing data collection and processing activities, ensuring alignment with privacy notices, consent requirements, and consumer request obligations.
  • Lead end-to-end governance for digital tracking, ensuring tags, pixels, cookies, opt-out (unsubscribe) systems function as intended (e.g. opt-outs are honored, tracking technology is deployed only with appropriate consent and documented business purpose).
  • Track audit cycles, analyze audit findings and prioritize remediation actions on an established schedule.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, vendors and agencies to drive remediation efforts.
  • Verify and document completion of audit remediation.
  • Maintain audit records and compliance requests according to established governance.
  • Respond to and support incoming compliance inquiries.
  • Assist with documenting compliance-related processes.
  • Translate marketing compliance risk policies into clear, actionable “policy‑to‑practice” guidance for marketing teams, agencies, and partners.
  • Draft compliance guidance materials such as playbooks, quick reference guides and FAQs.
  • Maintain up-to-date governance documentation and training materials.
  • Manage and update templates, forms and checklists.
  • Support training sessions and onboarding teams on compliance procedures.
  • Communicate updates on compliance process and requirement changes.
  • Coordinate requests with Legal department such as compliance, risk assessments, contract reviews, merchandise approvals, and similar. Communicate and store records of the resolution/decision.
  • Document processes to eliminate repetitive reviews.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support marketing application risk assessments, vendor due diligence, and ongoing control validation.
  • Coordinate ad hoc risk evaluation requests.
  • Support contract renewal planning and coordination with Legal department.
  • Maintain trackers and logs for changes, audits, issues and remediation, ensuring updates are captured timely and accurately.
  • Track remediation actions surfaced through audits or risk reviews.
  • Document audit results, prepare reports for leadership, and assist with quarterly compliance meetings.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with operational processes.
  • Surface recurring issues to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist developing reusable remediation guidance to reduce repeat compliance issues.
  • Support AI usage governance in Marketing by documenting approved AI use cases, validating data inputs, and ensuring alignment with internal AI risk policies.
  • Open and track support tickets for tools.
  • Assist with application risk assessments and training new users.
  • Support new users in navigating compliance-related tools and understanding where data/processes live, how to pull reports, etc.
  • Keep up to date on emerging compliance trends and tools.
  • Attend conferences and webinars on topics including but not limited to privacy, compliance, ADA, CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act), DSAR, AI, etc.
