About The Position

The College of Science at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) is seeking applications for a Specialist, Marketing and Digital Web. This role serves as a partnership between the College of Science (COS) and the Office of Marketing & Communications, reporting directly to the Director, External Relations & Events. The Specialist will be responsible for various marketing and communications writing tasks, including web content, promotional materials, advertisements, and video scripts. Key duties include developing and reviewing promotional content for the COS website and social media, maintaining existing web pages, responding to web update requests, providing marketing expertise to the Dean and faculty, designing marketing materials to highlight the College's programs and research, and managing relationships with printers and vendors. The position also requires staying current on University brand standards, collaborating with event staff on marketing aspects of events, attending Office of Marketing & Communications meetings, and pursuing professional development in digital marketing, brand management, and visual design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) year of related work experience OR Master’s Degree and one (1) year of related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Writing for the Web, promotional materials, advertisements, video and other persuasive forms for the College of Science.
  • Developing and/or reviewing promotional information for upload to the COS website and social media channels.
  • Maintaining existing web pages and addressing web update requests from faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Providing marketing expertise to the College of Science Dean and faculty.
  • Designing high-impact marketing materials that showcase the College of Science’s programs, research and impacts.
  • Maintaining relationships with printers and vendors.
  • Staying current on University-wide brand standards and guidelines.
  • Collaborating with event staff of reimagining and executing events from a marketing perspective.
  • Attending Office of Marketing & Communications meetings and trainings.
  • Undertaking professional development through study, training, conference attendance, etc. to maintain current education in the areas of digital marketing, brand management and visual design.
