This role processes and re-assigns titles for vehicles sold by the auction. It involves entering and accurately applying payments received by buyers/sellers, examining vehicle titles for accuracy and conformity to requirements, and verifying their acceptance in the state for which they are filed. The position requires confirming accurate title VIN numbers, odometer readings, releases of liens, and ensuring titles contain no alterations. A key responsibility is determining the negotiability of title documents, assessing for potential fraud, and reporting any discrepancies. This role also resolves titling issues through interaction with customers, dealers, and regulatory agencies, and may involve negotiating price adjustments for title problems. Maintaining knowledge of current DMV laws and regulations related to vehicle titles and interpreting titling regulations for each state is crucial. The role also includes receiving and routing telephone calls, processing sale day transactions, providing customer service, running outstanding title reports, and assisting with sale day balancing and title/check audits. A commitment to safety and following all safety and health procedures is expected. Overtime may be required as business needs dictate.
