Specialist, Health, Safety and Environment (1st Shift), Woodridge IL
About The Position
This role acts as a safety specialist for one or more of our distribution centers. As a specialist, you will be in daily direct contact with line-level associates and line management at the location(s) of your assignment, to guide them in all facets of occupational health and safety. You will ensure compliance with all federal and state regulatory bodies as well as our corporate safety policies. You will champion our safety culture at the site. Within this role, you will assess risks at the job site, work with the site on mitigation strategies, be part of all incident investigations on site to find root causation, train employees on health and safety, conduct safety onboarding, conduct inspections, make safety observations, and work with the area safety lead on projects that affect the site.
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5+ years’ experience within workplace safety.
- OSHA 30-hour training.
Nice To Haves
- Preferably in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain industry.
- Relevant certifications in safety are a plus.
- OSHA authorized trainer.
- First Aid / CPR certified.
Responsibilities
- Planning your health and safety program and protocols.
- Teaching supervisors, managers and other site leaders about health and safety standards and procedures.
- Presenting safety training sessions.
- Understanding and ensuring compliance with OSHA, federal and state regulations.
- Completing risk assessments to gather information on safety issues.
- Verifying that employees consistently follow safety protocols.
- Analyzing health and safety data.
- Reviewing and recommending changes to regular activities to ensure workplace safety.
- Conducting site inspections or audits.
- Reviewing safety observations.
- Other duties deemed necessary by line manager.
