About The Position

As a Hardware Engineer at L3Harris, you will contribute to the architecture, design, and development of next-generation Electronic Safe and Arm Devices using advanced technologies. The role focuses on FPGA design in Verilog, SystemVerilog UVM verification, and C#-based microcontroller development. FPGA and ASIC designs include sensor interfaces, sequence verification, A/D and D/A interfaces, communication protocols, state machines, and timer chains for fuzes used in Department of Defense weapon systems. Microsemi/Actel is the targeted FPGA platform, and QuestaSim is the simulation tool. The position involves analyzing requirements, defining architectures, designing and debugging FPGA and associated hardware, and developing microcontroller products and firmware. It also includes developing Verilog HDL for antifuse and enhanced Flash FPGAs, evaluating functional issues and performance in test environments or target host systems, and contributing to process improvements that support hardware-firmware quality and time-to-market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree and at least 2 years of related experience; alternatively, at least 8 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Verilog for logic design.
  • C programming experience for embedded systems, including algorithm development, data-structure manipulation, and optimized code implementation.
  • Experience with logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, JTAG/ICE debuggers, and protocol analyzers.
  • Familiarity with hardware, software, and firmware development methodologies, including design verification, code reviews, unit testing, prototyping, and product testing.
  • Familiarity with code version-control tools such as Subversion (SVN), GIT, or TFS.
  • Knowledge of digital design practices and principles, logic design and architecture, and HDLs such as Verilog or VHDL.
  • Knowledge of SystemVerilog verification using AVM, VMM, OVM, or UVM.
  • Experience developing C# source code for bare-metal microcontroller development.
  • Good spoken and written English.
  • Action-oriented and organized, with the ability to handle short-notice needs and requests.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze requirements and define architectures for FPGA, associated hardware, microcontroller products, and firmware.
  • Design and debug FPGA and associated hardware and microcontroller products and firmware.
  • Develop Verilog HDL targeting antifuse and enhanced Flash FPGAs.
  • Analyze functional issues and profile performance using hardware and firmware in test environments or target host systems.
  • Contribute to process improvements that support hardware-firmware quality and time-to-market.
