About The Position

In accordance with the DPI and CACFP food program regulations, this position plans and provides meals and snacks for children in the Parent/Child Center. In addition, this position also provides support to the children, parents, teachers and Director of the Parent/Child Center.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Food and Nutrition or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nutrition and sanitation.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Satisfactory background check as required by the WI Adm. Code for Child Care.
  • Adhere to all regulations as required by the WI Administrative Code for Child Care Center Licensing.
  • Requires valid Driver’s License.
  • Subject to FVTC’s Motor Vehicle Records Disclosure Check.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with employees, candidates, and stakeholders, both in-person and through electronic means.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Food Preparation and Meal Planning: Clean and prepare dishes, then deliver meals to classrooms. After meals, clean up dishes and carts.
  • Plan a nutritious, 4-week cycle menus using the menu pattern from the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
  • Make a weekly grocery list to include breakfast, lunch and snack items.
  • Shop locally for groceries while monitoring budget, ensuring all meals are planned to meet a cost recovery budget.
  • Maintain kitchen and food service areas in accordance with local health codes.
  • Remain current on food safety and management.
  • Utilize cultural, restrictive, and individual differences of children when planning and preparing food. These include special diets, restrictions due to allergies, as well as family preference.
  • Provide nutrition training for staff and opportunities for children to learn about food.
  • Inventory and Recordkeeping: Place bulk food orders with third-party vendors.
  • Plan for storage, rotation and take inventory.
  • Maintain daily recording and generate monthly reports as required by the CACFP.
  • Reconcile P-card and file receipts.
  • Center Support: Assist Director in planning and implementing parent events, parties, and coordinating food.
  • Plan monthly calendar activities or celebrations center wide.
  • Generate and maintain efficient inventory and accounting system for food supplies, utensils, and equipment.
  • Serve as coverage as a Lead or relief teacher in the classroom when needed.
  • General housekeeping of the Parent/Child Center and kitchen.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, workshops and conferences.
