About The Position

The Agriculture Specialist works with the Produce Production Coordinator to implement and maintain crop production at district production sites and supports DYAD Food Agriculture and Sustainability Labs (school gardens). This role involves working with the Produce Production Coordinator to develop and implement crop production plans, supporting educational initiatives like field trips to Mykawa Farm, and adhering to Good Agricultural Practices for produce served in the Child Nutrition Program. The specialist will also be responsible for tracking harvested produce and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • No experience
  • Proficiency with office equipment (e.g., computer, copier)
  • Proficiency with power tools (e.g., radial saw, reciprocating saw, drill pneumatic hammer)
  • Proficiency with hand tools (e.g. hammer, shovel, screwdriver)
  • Proficiency with vehicles (e.g., automobile, truck, tractor, forklift)

Responsibilities

  • Work with Produce Production Coordinator to develop and implement crop production plan for district production sites
  • Support Farm to School Education CTM to host field trips to Mykawa Farm
  • Use Good Agriculture Practices when harvesting crops to be served in Child Nutrition Program
  • Track pounds of produce harvested
  • Other duties as assigned
