Special Projects, Production

Anduril•Costa Mesa, CA
•$147,000 - $196,000

About The Position

Special Projects is Anduril’s production strike team, embedded in Production to solve urgent, cross-functional operational problems that affect the procurement, manufacture, and delivery of hardware. The team works where constraints occur—in production facilities, at suppliers, in warehouses, and in business systems—and reports into Production leadership. Its mandate is to deliver hardware on time, with quality, and at cost. The role is deployed against critical production bottlenecks, such as supplier capacity issues, manufacturing yield loss, poor system data, and processes that delay delivery. The position requires physical presence where hardware is built, tested, stored, and shipped, and works across Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Planning, Quality, Test, Engineering, Finance, and other functions. It combines hands-on operational problem-solving with analysis of ERP and other systems, and is accountable for driving improvements in cost, schedule, yield, and throughput.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations, production engineering, supply chain, management consulting, or another environment involving hands-on resolution of difficult operational problems.
  • Direct experience on a factory floor and practical understanding of how products are built, how supply chains operate, and where operational processes break down.
  • Strong bias toward action and ability to work quickly without becoming stuck in analysis.
  • Highly self-directed; able to identify priorities and act without waiting for direction.
  • Comfort working with hardware, physical systems, and operational details involved in procurement, manufacturing, testing, and shipping.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to build models in Excel, retrieve data from an ERP, and turn findings into clear recommendations quickly.
  • Relentless follow-through: identify and fix problems, verify solutions, and ensure fixes remain effective.
  • Comfort with high visibility, direct interaction with senior leadership, and broad organizational communication.
  • Willingness to accept feedback, acknowledge weaknesses, and learn quickly from mistakes.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Own operational problems end-to-end, from root-cause identification through implementation and verification of the fix.
  • Work on-site where hardware is built, tested, stored, and shipped, including production floors, supplier facilities, and stockrooms.
  • Lead projects that reduce unit cost, recover schedule, improve yield, or increase throughput; measure impact in dollars saved, days recovered, and units shipped.
  • Improve systems and processes related to inventory management, asset tracking, MES, ERP, and MRP, including addressing broken tools and poor-quality data.
  • Perform rapid analyses using data from business systems and develop more scalable analytical solutions when appropriate.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts, facilitate decisions, manage action items, and follow up to ensure accountability.
  • Apply structured problem decomposition and clear frameworks to ambiguous operational situations, translating them into action.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers and are considered part of total compensation.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, described as comprehensive and competitive and available at little to no cost to employees.
