Special Projects

Architect Labs•Palo Alto, CA

About The Position

As a member of Special Projects at Architect, you will work closely with the founders and leadership team to address the company’s highest-priority business challenges. This hands-on, high-trust role is suited to a resourceful generalist who can take ambiguous problems across areas such as finance, legal, HR, recruiting, and operations, determine what needs to happen, and drive work through to completion. You will own critical projects end to end, support day-to-day business operations, coordinate with external counsel and advisors, and build simple, scalable systems—including AI and automation where useful. The role calls for someone who can anticipate bottlenecks, respond to urgent issues, and take ownership of work across functions.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated agency and follow-through, including a track record of accomplishing difficult work with limited direction or resources.
  • Strong business fundamentals and the ability to navigate budgets, contracts, hiring processes, and operational tradeoffs, and recognize when to involve specialists.
  • Structured, pragmatic problem-solving skills, including the ability to learn unfamiliar topics quickly, prioritize effectively, and turn ambiguity into action.
  • Outstanding judgment and discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Clear communication with founders, teammates, and external partners.
  • A generalist mindset and willingness to take on both strategic and execution-focused work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as an early startup operator, founder, or chief of staff.
  • Experience in a demanding finance, consulting, or business-operations environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own critical projects from planning through delivery, coordinating stakeholders and turning loosely defined priorities into clear plans.
  • Support financial planning, budgets, reporting, purchasing, vendor management, and operational decisions.
  • Work with external counsel and advisors on contracts, compliance, and corporate matters.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, and HR processes.
  • Create simple, scalable operating systems, using AI and automation where they meaningfully improve company operations.
  • Anticipate bottlenecks, handle urgent issues, and take ownership of work across functional boundaries.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity.
  • Autonomy and visible impact in a fast-paced startup.
  • Opportunity to work directly with the founding team and help build the operating foundation of a frontier AI and silicon company.
