About The Position

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising arrangements for selected special event functions in Northeast Florida, assisting others as needed. The role involves researching and securing locations, facilities, transportation, and equipment, as well as recruiting, assigning, and supervising volunteers. The coordinator monitors event functions to ensure smooth operation and serves as a liaison to the Public Relations Coordinator for media opportunities. Key responsibilities include planning cost-effective events, setting revenue goals, and building relationships with volunteers and donors. The position also involves recruiting, training, coordinating, and monitoring volunteers to meet event or campaign needs, preparing related records and reports, and supervising Red Kettle Assistants during the Holiday season. This role requires a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends, and an outgoing, detail-oriented professional with experience in event planning and relationship building with vendors, the community, and donors, while understanding the Development Department's fundraising goals. The coordinator will manage various special events fundraisers throughout the year, including the volunteer appreciation dinner, office celebrations, William Booth Society events, Kettle Kickoff, and other directed events. Attendance at networking workshops, webinars, and volunteer fairs, as directed by the Director of Development, is also expected. A key responsibility is creating, implementing, and evaluating a strategic plan for Red Kettle volunteer and Site Recruitment to maximize fundraising opportunities. The role includes supervising Red Kettle assistants during the Holiday season, assigning, training, and monitoring their work duties and schedules. Additionally, the coordinator will research, register for, and attend community events to enhance the visibility of The Salvation Army and recruit volunteers. This involves recruiting and participating in the screening, selection, and recognition of volunteer staff to ensure adequate staffing for event and campaign needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field
  • Three years progressively responsible experience performing grants management work, Or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Requires an outgoing, detail-oriented, event-planning professional who can form/build vendor, community, and donor relationships with an awareness of the Development Department’s overall fundraising goals.
  • Valid Drivers License
