About The Position

Event Medical Dispatcher PART-TIME PER DIEM OPPORTUNITY Starting at $18.75/ hr - $23.75/ hr Location: New York City (244 W 54th Street, New York, New York 10019) We’re hiring Event Medical Dispatchers to support CrowdRx medical operations at New York Road Runners (NYRR) events . This team member will coordinate and dispatch EMS and clinical resources at special events while operating in event operation centers and incident command posts. In this role , the team member may also support the clinical team by delivering high-quality patient care and customer service to event guests, venue and event staff to our local partners . Our Event Medical Dispatchers will also have the opportunity to travel to large scale national events with our festival and special operations team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • AHA/ BLS Provider CPR Certification required
  • Current and valid New York State EMT certification or higher, company approved CPR certifications and Driver’s License are .
  • ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 certifications at time of application, ICS 300 and 400 within two months of hire through a company sponsored training program, if required by manager.
  • Emergency Medical Dispatcher certification or State Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic certification required
  • Two (2) or more years of experience as an EMS provider preferred
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills on telephone, radio, and face to face interaction
  • Must have telecommunications experience or have at least one year’s experience as an EMS or public safety dispatcher
  • Effective customer service skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • A working understanding of Special Event Dispatching
  • Ability to travel to the venue and work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) or more years of experience as an EMS provider

Responsibilities

  • Understand and adequately implement the concepts of Emergency Medical Dispatch published in Principles of Emergency Medical Dispatch as a minimum standard of care
  • Properly track incidents in the venue’s incident management system in a timely and clear manner
  • Operate telecommunications and two-way radio equipment in a clear and timely manner
  • Communicate with other public safety agencies to coordinate additional resources or provide incident information
  • Escalate s public health / safety concerns to venue staff and internal management
  • Allocate EMS resources properly as the need arises by application of appropriate decision-making rules and approved protocols
  • Coordinate and arrange emergent and non-emergent transport for patients to higher level of care
  • Track noteworthy incidents, event markers, and concerns utilizing the ICS 214 form
  • Deliver on-site BLS or ALS level care , dependent on certification level, in accordance with all applicable medical guidelines and protocols
  • Calmly and professionally respond to calls for emergency medical assistance and public safety issues within assigned venue or event area
  • Utilize medical equipment and procedures as required to provide appropriate and high-quality patient care
  • Responsible and accountable for completeness and accuracy of paperwork related to position prior to completion of shift
  • Properly maintain all issued uniforms and response gear and utilize all personal protective equipment
  • Keep current on all required state certifications / licenses
  • Maintain prompt and regular attendance
  • Travel to festivals and special events as part of our communications team, as needed
