About The Position

The Special Events Coordinator focuses on planning and coordinating special events and initiatives supporting the Manager of Client Engagement. This role ensures successful execution of events by managing logistics, supporting event communications, and collaborating with internal teams.

Requirements

  • Working towards Degree or diploma in related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 0-2 Years of experience in event coordination or customer service.
  • Exposure to event planning through internships, volunteer work, or projects.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.
  • Can adapt to changing priorities and work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with project management tools is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and organizing special events and initiatives.
  • Coordinate event logistics (venue booking, Audio and video requirements, catering).
  • Drafting and supporting event communications and promotional materials.
  • Planning and coordination support for various events including DBCS Lake Joe Week, June Deafblind Awareness Month, Client Celebrations, Booth set up and take down at various events in the community, Pride coordination and planning, Walter Gretzkey Ball Tournament booth coordination and planning, and end of year holiday celebrations for clients.
  • Provide assistance during events, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Handle attendee inquiries and support customer service needs.
  • Booth set up and take down.
  • Collect feedback and assist with event evaluation reports.
  • Maintain event-related documentation and records.
  • Work with Manager Client Engagement on complex challenges but has autonomy on day to day planning.
  • Travel is required for this role in and outside of the GTA area.
