About The Position

Animal Friends is seeking a Development Intern to support community engagement and annual giving, tribute, and memorial gifts. The intern will work with the Development team, primarily the Development Coordinator and Development Database Coordinator, to support the success of Animal Friends’ development efforts. This unpaid internship provides hands-on experience in development and may include the opportunity to receive academic credit through a university or college. Animal Friends does not provide housing or travel stipends.

Requirements

Be comfortable working with and around shelter dogs, cats, and rabbits.
Have good proofreading skills.
Have working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Have a flexible schedule and be available at nights and weekends.
Have reliable transportation and be open to required local travel.
Be at least 18 years old.
Be able to follow directions, work independently, and manage time efficiently.
Be able to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively while maintaining composure around clients, donors, animals, and volunteers.
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Be comfortable soliciting and working with individuals and businesses.
Have a sincere interest in Animal Friends’ work, programs, and mission.

Nice To Haves

Bloomerang experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

Enter data in Bloomerang and Excel.
Digitize and optimize hard-copy files.
Serve as a positive ambassador for Animal Friends, promoting its mission, vision, culture, and policies in the community.
Complete miscellaneous office tasks.
Conduct donor and foundation research.
Assist with preparing acknowledgment and tax letters.
Assist with individual naming opportunities, including Kennel Sponsorships, Tribute Bricks, and Memorial Garden items.
Improve memorial giving by implementing a mapping process for tribute bricks and Memorial Garden items.
