About The Position

Pediatric Developmental Services is hiring a Special Education Teacher for maternity leave coverage in a K–2 Instructional Program special education classroom. The teacher will provide specialized instruction to students in kindergarten through second grade and maintain continuity of their IEP services during the leave period. The assignment is expected to run from January 4, 2027 through March 19, 2027, with the end date tentative. The position is on-site and offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Special Education endorsement.

Responsibilities

Create and execute Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students in the teacher’s care.
Communicate with staff and family members about each student’s progress and challenges.
Prepare detailed lesson plans and submit them to administrators for approval.
Participate in IEP meetings as scheduled by the school.
Use individualized reinforcement techniques to support students’ progress.
Invite family members to participate in each student’s educational progress.
Create and distribute quarterly progress reports.
Confer with the on-site therapist about disciplinary and behavioral issues involving students.
Create a safe, productive classroom environment.
