About The Position

Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) is hiring a Special Education Teacher to provide maternity leave coverage in a K–2 Instructional Program special education classroom at a school. The assignment is expected to run from January 4, 2027, through March 19, 2027; the end date is tentative. The teacher will provide specialized instruction to kindergarten through second-grade students and maintain continuity of their Individualized Education Program (IEP) services during the leave period. PDS provides qualified teachers and pediatric therapists to public school districts, charter schools, and communities. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Special Education endorsement.

Responsibilities

Create and execute Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students in the teacher’s care.
Communicate with staff and family members about each student's progress and challenges.
Prepare detailed lesson plans and submit them to administrators for approval.
Participate in IEP meetings scheduled by the school.
Use individualized reinforcement techniques to support students’ progress.
Invite family members to participate in each student’s educational progress.
Create and distribute quarterly progress reports.
Confer with the on-site therapist about student disciplinary and behavioral issues.
Create a safe, productive classroom environment.
Provide specialized instruction to kindergarten through second-grade students and maintain continuity of their IEP services during the leave period.
