About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher to provide individualized academic, literacy, and reading support to students with disabilities and diverse learning needs in Manhattan. The selected candidate will deliver targeted instruction, support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and collaborate with educators to help students strengthen their academic skills and achieve individualized learning goals.

The role is school-based and includes individualized and small-group instruction in reading, literacy, and academic skills. The teacher will adapt instruction to students’ needs, monitor and document progress, and contribute to educational planning and learning strategies while maintaining a supportive, structured, and student-centered environment.

Requirements

• Master’s degree.
• Certification in Special Education.
• Certification in Literacy.
• Certification in Students with Disabilities.
• Certification in Reading.
• Experience working with students with disabilities or in special education settings.
• Strong background in literacy development, reading instruction, and academic intervention.
• Ability to implement effective instructional strategies tailored to individual learning needs.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and contribute effectively to an educational team.
• Patience, empathy, and a student-centered approach.

Responsibilities
