About The Position

PASCO SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 1 is seeking a Special Education Teacher for a Resource Room position at Reynolds Middle School. The role involves designing and implementing standards-based IEPs and behavior intervention plans, participating in functional behavioral assessments, and providing specially designed instruction for students with a range of disabilities to access the general education curriculum. The candidate will collaborate with grade-level partners and participate in professional learning communities. The position requires participation in required trainings and professional development, implementation of best practices, and collaboration with relevant staff to enhance student outcomes.

Requirements

  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement.
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Successful experience with a co-teaching model or willingness to participate in training.
  • Prior experience or demonstrated knowledge of implementing multi-tiered interventions for academics, behavior, and/or social skills.
  • The candidate must demonstrate commitment to student success while aligning with state requirements and the school’s guiding principles, vision, and mission.
  • The candidate must also demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for working with all students.
  • The candidate must be willing to participate in required trainings and professional development.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous successful classroom teaching experience.
  • Bilingual/Biliterate in English/Spanish.
  • Previous experience in working with students with a variety of disabilities.
  • Participate in sheltered training such as Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD).
  • Demonstrate a core belief system that matches the guiding principles and vision/mission of the school and be willing to operate accordingly.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement standards-based IEPs and behavior intervention plans.

  • Assist in supervision and instruction for paraeducators or willingness to learn.

  • Implement best practices that foster meaningful learning experiences.
  • Work within a system that supports student interventions.
  • Collaborate with relevant staff members to enhance student outcomes.
