About The Position

Huron Valley Schools is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and innovative Middle School Resource Room Teacher. This teacher will need to be a highly collaborative employee, an effective communicator in using both verbal and written skills, and one who is effective in meeting the academic, behavioral and communication needs of the population.

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Special Education endorsement in Learning Disabilities (SM), Autism Spectrum Disorder (SV), Cognitive Impairments (SA), Emotional Impairments (SE), or other special education area.
  • Must meet the Highly Qualified standard under the ESSA OR be recommended for a certificate or endorsement, constituting full approval in a special education area by an institution of higher education signifying verification of completion of a teacher program, as approved by the State Board of Education.
  • Ability to speak and write effectively.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

  • To effectively provide Specially Designed Instruction to students with an Individualized Education Plan
  • To effectively communicate in writing and verbally with students, staff and families
  • Must progress monitor all IEP goals and objectives according to the frequency written in the IEP and then report data to family members quarterly
  • Complete service logs and accommodation logs for each caseload student
  • Lead and write IEPs as well as MDRs that are compliant with all federal, state, and district guidance
  • Collaborate with other special education teachers, general education teachers, ancillary staff members, and paraeducators to best support students in their LRE
  • To be engaged while attending building and department meetings
  • To be a learner of your content and other school related topics to benefit students
  • Must sign Consent to BIll for Medicaid and complete Medicaid billing monthly
  • Be willing to attend Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training after school as certification expires. Other behavioral techniques may require training after school hours.
  • Other duties assigned by the special education director or the building principal
