About The Position

This position is for a Special Education Teacher in a resource room setting. The teacher will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences for students. The role involves creating and maintaining an environment that fosters student achievement and the development of lifelong skills, while maximizing student success through positive working relationships. The teacher will instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, and be a role model for lifelong learning and professional behavior. Collaboration, flexibility, resourcefulness, and innovation are key to managing learning experiences that are responsive to student needs. The teacher will observe and evaluate student performance, encourage and monitor individual progress, and assign and grade work, providing feedback. The position requires a commitment to equity, social justice, and inclusion.

Requirements

  • Valid Michigan Teaching certificate.
  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree.
  • Must be Highly Qualified in endorsement area.
  • Must meet certification and endorsement requirements for assignment.
  • Must meet all NCA and Michigan Department of Education requirements.
  • Be proficient in the use of technology.
  • In this role you must be able to bend, twist, stoop, squat and lift up to 50 pounds in assisting students.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to equity, social justice and inclusion in all practices and position responsibilities.
  • Have Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training or will get the training as soon as possible.

  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments and provide appropriate feedback on work.
  • Assume other responsibilities as determined by their supervising administrator.
  • Conducts himself/herself in a professional manner commensurate with his/her position and project a good public image of the School District in dealing with the community and employee groups.
